The Pruitt Residence, circa 1932, is located in historic downtown Berlin, and was originally the home of well known residents Jack and Alma Pruitt. This Arts & Crafts / Bungalow style home is unusual since most of the older homes in the downtown area were built around 1900 – and mostly a simplified Farmhouse Victorian style.
The renovation design includes redesigned bathrooms and kitchen, new energy efficient wood windows, restored original wood doors, restored windows for the Garage, custom hand made basement storm windows, refinished hardwood floors, extensive refinishing of plaster walls and ceilings, including knotty pine paneling. The second floor roof deck has also been redesigned and rebuilt. All renovation work has been done to current building codes while keeping with the original style of the period home.
The energy efficiency of the home was a large priority and has been greatly improved. Site drainage has also been improved and the landscaping redesigned. It is truly a work in progress!
